Microsoft is launching its Office and OneNote apps on Amazon’s Fire tablets. Both apps will be available in Amazon’s Appstore, with the Office app which includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint into a single tablet app.
This is not the first time Microsoft is launching apps in Amazon’s Appstore. It has published apps like Outlook, Xbox, and Xbox Game Pass for Fire tablets. Microsoft has essentially taken its Android Office app that’s already available on the Google Play Store and modified it to work on Amazon’s Fire OS.
Amazon announced on Tuesday that it will debut a Fire Kids Pro tablet aimed at users ages 6 to 12. Its existing Fire Kids models are intended for kids ages 3 to 7. The Fire Kids Pro tablet has a slightly more sophisticated look and feels, along with content specifically intended for older users. The tablet comes with access to Amazon’s digital store to download apps, such as Minecraft, Netflix and Spotify. It also allows for voice and video calling through Amazon Alexa devices, a more open web browser experience, new Amazon Kids+ content and a handful of parental controls.
